When Groove Technology Solutions (www.getgrooven.com), a premier provider of integrated smart building tech and entertainment systems for hospitality, senior living, and multifamily communities, outgrew their old space, they didn’t just build a new office. They built a 44,000 square-foot, four-story showcase of innovation and style in Midvale, Utah.

Director of Technology James West led the charge to create a headquarters that perfectly represented the very tech they deploy for their customers. Having experienced the drain of poor lighting at their previous facility, West was intrigued by PoE lighting and eager to harness its capabilities to prioritize occupant health and well-being. Enter GENISYS. With its standout color-tuning capabilities, sensor integration, and flexible scheduling, it was the exact solution Groove needed, not only for their own team, but as a real-world proof of concept for their clients. “We do a lot of deployments in senior care facilities, and being able to tune the light color and provide a more natural experience that follows circadian rhythm is a huge benefit for those spaces,” said West.

Groove outfitted their new headquarters with more than 170 2×2 troffers, 145 6-inch downlights, and 2×4 architectural fixtures from partner LEMAR LED, along with multifunction wall switches, occupancy sensors, and daylight harvesting sensors, all connected via 178 IntelliDrives. Groove also employed a dry contact interface module to turn on exhaust fans and power mirror lights in the bathrooms when the sensors detect motion. Powering and connecting the entire system is a high-performance infrastructure comprised of Siemon Category 6A shielded and Category 6 UTP cabling. This robust network delivers reliable PoE not just for the lighting, but also for surveillance cameras, wireless access points, access control, and other technologies throughout the facility.
